PCHEI members are invited to attend this in-person event exploring how food, body image, and mental health intersect — particularly in the context of student wellbeing and therapeutic practice.

About the Event
This regional event is hosted by:
- Munster Technological University Counselling (MTU)
- Eating Disorder Clinic Cork (EDCC)
- University College Cork Counselling (UCC)
- Psychological Counsellors in Higher Education (PCHEI)
The event brings together leading professionals working in mental health and education to explore therapeutic responses to disordered eating and body image issues in student populations.

Meet the Speakers
Dr. Eimear O’ Neill
Dr. Eimear O’ Neill, Consultant CAMHS and clinical lead of CAREDS (Cork-Kerry adolescent regional eating disorders service). Dr. O’ Neill is qualified in FBT (Family based therapy), FT-AN (Family therapy for Anorexia Nervosa) and has a Masters in Family Therapy. Prior to her role in CAREDS, Dr. O’ Neill has worked in CAMHS teams throughout Cork, Kerry, Kilkenny and Carlow, and Perinatal mental health services in CUMH. Her interests include systemic family therapy, narrative approaches, psychoeducation and pet therapy. Dr. O’ Neill supports holistic and community based approaches, and hopes to build relationships with all providers of care to those with eating disorders.
Paula Crotty
Paula Crotty; Founder of CARED Ireland(Caring About Recovery from an Eating Disorder), is a wholly voluntary group of parents and carers who have a loved one struggling with an Eating Disorder. Our role is to support each other and our families through this very lonely road of Eating Disorders and we also advocate for more and better services for Eating Disorder sufferers. We formed over 10 years ago and have more than 170 family members.

Megan Devaney
Megan Devaney works in eating disorder recovery, advocacy, and recovery education, with a particular focus on the role of lived experience in supporting healing beyond clinical settings.
Her work is informed by her own recovery from an eating disorder, academic background in psychology and sociology, and a strong socio-cultural and feminist lens on food, bodies, and identity.
She is currently developing a recovery-oriented, non-clinical support and coaching practice; Megan Devaney Coaching. Megan is passionate about ethical, compassionate support, and about creating spaces of hope, connection, and dignity within eating disorder recovery in Ireland.
Joanne Corbett
Joanne Corbett MSc, RD is a CORU-registered dietitian, mindfulness teacher (MTAI), yoga teacher (YAP), and founder of Wellbe, a weight-inclusive practice in Cork. She supports adults healing from disordered eating and body image distress, helping them dial down diet culture and build peace with food, movement, and health.
Deirdre Reddan
Deirdre Reddan is a Family Coach/Mentor and co-founder of Supported Families (Home - Supported Families), who support families and individuals affected by eating disorders as well as providing eating disorder training to professionals. Deirdre is also an associate instructor with Youth Mental Health First Aid Ireland.
She is passionate on the topic of disordered eating and eating disorders, and the importance of educating and raising awareness around this complex and often misunderstood area.
She is also passionate about supporting families, who are often the untapped superpower when a person is unwell. She has delivered numerous workshops and webinars to both sporting and large commercial organisations, and to healthcare professionals.
A former banker, Deirdre came to this field after supporting her own child’s recovery.
Dr Kielty Oberlin
Dr Kielty Oberlin is an eating disorder recovery specialist with over 25 years’ experience working with individuals and families affected by eating disorders, disordered eating, and body image distress. She holds a PhD focused on the process of recovery and is the author of Working with People Affected by Eating Disorders: Developing Skills and Facilitating Recovery. Kielty lectures in psychology and nursing, develops and delivers professional training, and is currently launching an online group programme supporting those who are not in crisis but not yet fully recovered. Her work is grounded in clinical practice, research, and lived experience, with a clear focus on promoting full recovery.
Harriet Parsons
MA, MSc., Reg. Pract. APPI, ICP. CEO, Bodywhys, The Eating Disorders Association of Ireland
Harriet joined BODYWHYS: The Eating Disorders Association of Ireland in 2005 and was appointed CEO in June 2025. A fully accredited psychoanalytic psychotherapist, Harriet is a member of the Irish Council of Psychotherapy (ICP), and is a registered practitioner with APPI (The Association for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy in Ireland). She was Chairperson of APPI from 2014-2016 and is currently a member of the Editorial board of the APPI journal Lacunae.
